good, long-established restaurant,
offering both classic courses and side
dishes such as preserved eggs,
dry-fried beef, chilli-braised frogs
and eels, and green beans with garlic.
Luohan Si , Luohan Si Jie.
Temple restaurant with first-rate
vegetarian cuisine.
Minzhu Meibaocheng , Bayi
Lu. Busiest of many such inexpensive
canteens in this street; sit in cheap
plastic seats and devour great
portions of shuijiao, spring
rolls, noodles and soups.
Yizhishi , Zourong Lu. A
popular place for Chongqing's full
range of cheap and excellent snacks -
best in this line are the range of
cold vegetables and chilli braised
meats. Everything is on show, so order
by pointing.
Zeng Xiao Rong , Zuorong Lu.
Similar to the nearby Yizhishi,
but with the emphasis on steamed or
"potsticker" jiaozi
with chilli sauce, glutinous rice
balls, and other dumplings; decor
includes concrete trees, wooden booths
and chirping budgies.
