The city is split in two by the
Liu River ,
with all traffic arriving on the south side of the
river.
Trains arrive 2km away at the end of
Fei'e Lu on the city's western outskirts, while
buses
terminate at depots either towards the station on
Fei'e Lu, or off the southern end of Longcheng Lu.
Either depot has departures to Yangshuo, Guilin,
Guiping, Nanning, Sanjiang and Wuzhou. Rickshaws
and taxis await at all arrival points.
At the junction of Longcheng Lu and Fei'e Lu
you'll find a post office and clean accommodation
at the Yufeng Dasha (¥100-150), whose good
restaurant offers the usual Sunday dim
sum selection. There are also plenty of cheap
places to eat around the bus and train stations.
Longcheng Lu continues north, crossing the river
by the middle bridge and running up to spacious Liuzhou
Square , abode of two mighty dragon sculptures
- buses #4, #10 and #11 go this way, or it's about
a twenty-minute walk. Northeast of here at the end
of Youyi Lu you'll find a CITS office (tel
0772/2825669 or 2822637) and more rooms at the Liuzhou
Fandian (¥75-100).
