The Wenzhou vicinity is host to some superb mountain scenery, most notably in the Yandang Shan , an area of soaring cliffs and stunning verdant slopes. Yandang Shan lies some 80km to the northeast of town, in Leqing County. From Wenzhou's West bus station, take a bus to Baixi or "Leqing Yandangshan" (but ask to be dropped off in Baixi). Outside Baixi, there are several interesting hikes you can undertake to monasteries and scenic spots in the area, including the Dalongqiu Pubu (Da Long Qiu Waterfall), at 190m high one of the tallest in China. Although very few Western tourists have been to this area, it's not exactly undiscovered as Chinese tour groups have been coming here for a while and a tourist infrastructure is firmly in place. The inn , with adjoining restaurant, next to the Lingfeng Si (Lingfeng Temple), 2km from Baixi, has basic rooms and accepts foreigners (¥30-75).
