busy every night, as are countless private VCD
screens easily located by the high-volume,
scream-and-thud soundtracks emanating from
within.
Otherwise, you'll probably while away the
evenings drinking beer, eating pizza and Chinese
food, and watching Western films with other
foreigners in the cafés . Most open
early in the morning for Western breakfasts and
coffee, and serve decent meals; everyone finds
their own favourites, and the following
recommendations should be treated simply as a
starting point. There are also plenty of Chinese
canteens and food stalls selling
noodle soups and buns around the market and
upper Xi Jie, with good Chinese meals served in
most hotel restaurants .
