Organized tours of the city and its outskirts offer a painless if expensive way of seeing all the sights quickly. CITS offers a wide variety of one- and two-day tour packages, which you can book from their offices or from the information desk in the Friendship Store. However, these tours aren't cheap, at around ¥300 a day. One good, inexpensive tour that's more imaginative than most is the hutong tour , which offers the opportunity to see a more private side of the city. The one-day tours offered by the classier hotels also tend to be expensive; better value is offered by the cheaper hotels, and you don't have to be a guest to go along. The Jinghua Hotel offers good-value short evening trips to the acrobatics and the opera a few times a week, and day trips to Simatai Great Wall daily in summer, once a week in the off season. Again, you must book at least a day in advance. Each of the Jinghua 's trips costs ¥60.
