With considerably cheaper fares than Hong Kong, Guangzhou is well connected by air to all major cities in China, and several in Southeast Asia and Australia. CAAC (tel 86681818) is just east of the train station, and their well-organized ticket office upstairs is open 7am-7pm, with counters #2 and #3 reserved for foreigners and Overseas Chinese. The airport bus (¥8) leaves from outside CAAC - check times when you buy your ticket - or catch a taxi (¥30-40) to arrive at the terminal at least two hours before your flight is due to leave. At the airport, domestic and international terminals are next to each other.
