The Long Islands (Changdao)
lie between the Shaodong and the
Liaodong Peninsula: 32 islands with
different features. Cheyou
Island (RMB10 for entrance)
is the kingdom of birds, where you'll
find tens of thousands of birds of
various species. Heishan
Island is home to more than
ten thousand snakes. Other famous
islands are Zushan Island
with its bamboo forests and the
rock-serried Tuoji Island.
The major popular islands are the Nanchangshan
Island, the Beichangshan
Island and the Miao
Island. The Long Islands are
also famous for a mirage phenomenon
which occurs especially after showers
in July or August.
How to get there:
Frequent ferries (30 minutes and
RMB12) connect the Long Islands and
Penglai. Bus at the long distance bus
station can take you to the Changdao
county. For going to the islands,
there are ferry services. Cheyou
Island can be reached by sea in 1.5
hours.
